VINEYARD WIND 2

A New Wave of Offshore Wind Power

On September 6, 2024
, Vineyard Offshore was selected by Massachusetts to advance a new wave of offshore wind power in our region. The Commonwealth announced it would procure up to 800 MW of Vineyard Offshore’s new 1,200 MW project, Vineyard Wind 2. The next-generation project will deliver enough clean electricity to power 650,000 New England homes.

We look forward to Connecticut’s forthcoming decision on the remainder of the procurement, which would deliver nearly 400 jobs and $682 million in direct economic benefits to the state of Connecticut.

We take a community-first approach to offshore wind development. With staging and installation based in Salem, secondary steel manufacturing in Providence, grid interconnection in southeastern Connecticut and operations and maintenance in New Bedford, the project will deliver economic benefits across the region.

Of $2.3 billion in total economic impact throughout New England, over $1.5 billion will be realized in Massachusetts, along with 80% of total employment. Vineyard Wind 2 is expected to reduce carbon pollution in New England by 2.1 million tons per year, equivalent to taking 414,000 cars off the road, while improving public health by reducing air pollutants.
